Valmik Thapar has, since 1977, been closely associated with the Ranthambore National Park, documenting the natural history of tigers and campaigning for their protection. He is founder of the Rnathambore Foundation which works to save the tiger in India. A well-known documentary filmmaker, he is the author of several books on tigers. He is currently a member of the Prime Minister's Task Force on Tigers and the Central Empowered Committee constituted by the Supreme Court of India and the National Board of Wildlife.
