The year 1948 marked the birth of the National Health Service and the status of the Belfast Hospital for Sick Children passing from voluntary to state control. The year 1998 signalled the opening of new premises of the hospital which has become part of the Royal Hospital Trust. This book records the intervening 50 years and pays tribute to the specialist medical departments and to the dedicated teams of men and women who have worked in the hospital.
