About Mary Hoffman

Mary Hoffman's first book, White Magic, was published in 1975. Since then, she has written about eighty books for children, including the picture book Amazing Grace, the Stavaganza series of novels and the anti-war anthology Lines in the Sand. She has three adult daughters and lives in West Oxfordshire. Her website is: www.maryhoffman.co.uk Penelope Lively was born in Cairo, Egypt. She has won the Carnegie with The Ghost of Thomas Kempe and the Whitbread award and has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize twice. She was awarded the OBE in 1989 and CBE in 2002.
