Beyond Childlessness Summary

Beyond Childlessness by Rachel Black

Even now, many women find it very difficult to discuss their childlessness with family and friends. This book offers support, shared experience and practical strategies to all those for whom childlessness is not a positive choice but a circumstance they have to learn to live with.

The authors have interviewed a large number of women for this book; their personal stories reflect the myriad reasons why women do not have children. Anyone who is learning to live with the fact that she may/will never have a child, or that having had one child she will never have another, will welcome this sensitive, practical and non-judgmental look at a profoundly complicated and personal issue.

About Rachel Black

Rachel Black married in 1988 only to discover that her husband did not want children. She has a degree in Law from Warwick University and initially practised as a solicitor in the City, before changing career. Since 1987, she has run her own consumer research consultancy. Rachel is committed to supporting childless women and informing society of the issues arising. She gives talks and lectures on the subject to the public, medical and healthcare professions.
