Fundamentals of Structural Analysis by Samuel E. French
This volume has been written for engineering programmes where analysis is taught separately from design and for four-year engineering technology programs. Integral calculus and basic mechanics (statics/strength) are both prerequisites. This text, appropriate for applied programmes, stresses the fundamentals rather than emphasizing matrix analysis too early. Of the 18 chapters, 15 focus on statically determinate structures. The three chapters on indeterminate structures exclude coverage of matrix analysis. A fundamental topic of analysis is developed in each chapter, followed by numerous applications. The intention is for students to develop their own skills through hands-on problems.
