Ralf Hoffrogge is postdoctoral research fellow at the Ruhr-Universitat Bochum (Germany), focussing on the German and European labour movement, including Labour and Socialist parties as well as German Communism and trade unions. His ongoing research is a comparative study of German and British metalworker's unions in the twentieth century. Norman LaPorte is Reader in History at the University of South Wales. His research is (mainly) on German communism and (with Stefan Berger) British relations with the former communist German Democratic Republic.
