The Liverpool Packet Zusammenfassung

The Liverpool Packet Andrew M. Hajducki

London at the turn of the millennium and Christopher Kingstone QC has enough on his plate with a broken down marriage, unruly daughter and backstabbing colleagues. Just when things might be starting to look up, an unexpected package arrives bearing his late uncle's dying wish. Before long he finds himself returning to his native Liverpool to reluctantly undertake a seemingly hopeless task - to uncover the truth behind the violent, unsolved murder of his beloved cousin April back when they were teenagers in Crosby in the 1970s. But as he digs ever deeper into the murky waters of the past, skeletons begin to tumble from closets and as things spiral rapidly out of control he discovers all too late that sometimes the past should remain firmly in the past. The debut novel from Andrew M. Hajducki is a fast paced mystery thriller that weaves back and forth between the 1970s and present day as our hero becomes ever more entangled in an increasingly dangerous game.

Über Andrew M. Hajducki

Andrew M. Hajducki (1952-2021) was a Edinburgh based QC, author and railway historian. Born in Dulwich, South London, to a civil engineer and Polish refugee father, and a Glasgow school teacher mother, Andrew was educated at Dulwich College before reading Law at Cambridge University and qualifying as both an English barrister, then after moving to Edinburgh and retraining, a Scottish advocate, becoming a QC in 1994. A lifelong liberal, he also stood as a one-time candidate for Liberal MP, coming second place ahead of the Tories. His great passions in life were walks in the countryside, literature, poetry, true crime, film noir and railways. Although his parents encouraged him towards the reliable profession of the law, he had always dreamed of becoming an author. During his lifetime he published 8 volumes of railway history and 2 legal textbooks but he also wrote two excellent crime novels and a book of poetry. He had planned on spending his retirement writing fiction full-time though sadly poor health intervened, and he completed work on his second novel just months before succumbing to cancer in 2021. His output may be modest but Andrew's works of fiction are wonderfully composed, fast paced and entertaining yet thoughtful and introspective, and give a tantalising glimpse at his creative style. Both novels and his collection of poetry are due for publication posthumously, The Liverpool Packet and Minor Saints and Fertile Soils (poetry) in 2023 and Dog Kennel Hill in 2024.
