When hotshot lawyer Bartholomew Crane is despathced to a lakeside town in northern Ontario with a brief to defend a schoolteacher accused of murdering two teenaged girls, he assumes it will be an open-and-shut case. However, he finds both teacher's and town's past are not all as they first appear.
