Bill Keller is executive editor of The New York Times. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1989 for his coverage of the Soviet Union. From 1992 to 1995, he was chief of the New York Times Johannesburg bureau, where he covered the astonishing events that led to Nelson Mandela becoming the president of South Africa.
