This Day in Automotive History Bewertungen

A quirky, punchy jaunt through automotive history. It;s entertaining enough to see what happened in the world of cars on your birthday, but it's also an opportunity to reflect on the most significant moments in the evolution of cars, motoring and motor sport. Births and deaths are marked with micro-biographies, dates of notable patent filings are explained with a quick technical run-through, and mergers and bankruptcies are treated with the same importance as marque founding and major model releases. Due to the need to have an anecdote for every day, the book has a scattergun approach and the result is obscure facts given equal standing to better-known ones. So Stirling Moss' in a Pescara sits alongside the first pedestrian road death, for example. Very entertaining and more informative than you might expect. - Classic Cars. Veloce have produced 196 pages of transportation memorabilia with 730 pictures covering the past four centuries. Each day enjoys a motoring past, the first thing most folk will search out for is their birthday! The author originates Stateside and the book is populated with historic details from across the pond, but luckily, he got the mix right with plenty of European and especially UK interest. Ideal for these who are inclined to pick-up then put-down a book or the enthusiast that enjoys impressing their mates with vast automotive knowledge. - Grant Ford, Freelance. Automotive history has been made every single day of the year, for as long as automobiles have existed. The sheer volume of important and notable happenings around the world have made compiling them a formidable task, but this is what Brian Corey has done in this new title from Veloce Publishing. This Day in Automotive History is a fascinating read for trivia buffs and automotive enthusiasts, alike. - Hemmings Motor News. Trivia fans will enjoy leafing this 196-page paperback, which offers a motoring fact (or several) for each day of the year. The focus is biased towards US, but you have to admire the author's determination to find at least one snippet per day even 29 February. There are some interesting anecdotes in here. - Classic & Sports Car. In a fun way you will be taken care of by car history day to day. Not a book to read in one go, but to be busy every day for a longer period of time. Beautiful photos ... I highly recommend this book! - Alex Miedema.
