An analytical account of the development, institutions and workings of the British Cabinet system. The book moves away from examining parts of the cabinet system (Such as prime minister and cabinet) in isolation, and emphasises the extent to which those parts have to be understood in relation to the whole series of organisations and practices which are now well established at the very heart of British central government.
