In the late 19th century, due to the agricultural depression, farmland in several parts of Essex was divided into small plots and sold by auction. Mainly bought by Londoners, the plotlands sadly no longer exist, having been absorbed into Basildon New Town. This fascinating book traces the 'plotlanders' story from the 1890s to the 1990s.
