Sharp Scratch Zusammenfassung

Sharp Scratch: After Forty Years of Surgery, My Luck Ran Out Deborah Jay

Deborah Jay was no stranger to the operating theatre. indeed she'd had so many surgeries, she'd lost count. but this one was to be her panacea, finally setting her free from years of pain! But things went wrong, badly wrong; she became one of the tiny group of people who suffer life changing, catastrophic surgical complications. When 'rare' became her 'reality', could she find that inner strength and resilience to enable her to navigate the very rocky road to acceptance, allowing her to survive and thrive once again? In an emotional, heart-tugging book, Deborah recounts her years-long daily struggle with unseen, invisible forces, which compelled her to adapt to life with a chronic illness. Enlivened by happy moments, despite the daily stresses and strains on her relationships, this frank roller-coaster of a story is ultimately the story of one woman's triumph over 'a type of hell you didn't even know existed...'

Sharp Scratch Bewertungen

What a moving story of Debra's fortitude and life. I have no idea how someone survives what she has; She's an inspiration to anyone living with a chronic illness. I honestly couldn't put the book down as I wanted to see how her journey panned out; There isn't one iota of self pity in this book and the overriding message is one of hope through adversity. It's definitely worth a read; Once I started reading I literally didn't put it down until I was finished; An emotional read, but so well written, and despite the trauma the author has endured her sense of humour also shines through; I both laughed and cried reading this as I could relate to so much of it! This book should be essential reading for every medical student; Only a talented author could deliver such an unapologetically realistic book packed with such emotion, I truly felt moved to tears on reading many chapters, and will never again see a French stick, without being reminded of this inspiring lady.

The Falklands War started shortly after, meaning that her husband went on a long commission, resulting in her returning home to her beloved Carmarthenshire where she raised their only child. She worked for twenty-five years in Local Government before retiring owing to her declining health. Her life revolves around her family, friends and pet dog. She has always had a love of writing and has penned a few children's books for her beloved grandchildren and nephews which they loved.
