Examines a number of diplomatic crises of the inter-war period, ranging from the Versailles Treaty and the surrounding controversy to the invasion of Poland in 1939. Two additional chapters look at the way in which the period was seen through the eyes of cartoonists and the historiography of the period. Following the style of other books in the series, each topic is introduced with a historical overview and explanation. It is followed by a series of excerpts from primary and secondary sources representing the views of participants, interested individuals and historians.
