McSweeney's began in 1998 as a San Francisco-based literary journal edited by Dave Eggers, and has since grown to a celebrated and award-winning independent publishing company. Intro:Michael Kimmelman is the author of several books, chief art critic for the New York Times, and a contributor to the New York Review of Books. He lives in Berlin.
