The Philospher's Tale Jan Ellis
At forty-something, loveless and stuck in a job he hates, Tom spends most of his time drowning his sorrows - if not quite himself - in the finest malt whisky very little money can buy. He's almost beyond redemption when along comes Susannah. She's clever and attractive and fancies Tom almost as much as he fancies her. He can scarcely believe his luck and is seriously starting to enjoy himself, when along comes Amy. She's equally clever and equally attractive but naturally, since she's only fourteen, she's not interested in him. At least, not in that way...But Amy isn't quite what she seems and it isn't long before disaster strikes, threatening all Tom's new-found happiness. He has some difficult choices to make but, in the end, it seems he's got himself in so deep, it'll take nothing short of a miracle to save him.
