My Lucky Star Zusammenfassung

My Lucky Star Joe Keenan

Philip Cavanaugh and Claire Simmons are lured to Hollywood by shifty pal Gilbert's offer of a lucrative screenwriting gig. Then comes the news that the project will be graced by Hollywood royalty - imperious screen legend Diana Malenfant, her son the fantastically sexy (and secretly gay) megastar Stephen Donato, plus his wife, Gina. But with such Star Power on board how long before three newbie scribes are replaced by more seasoned hands? Gilbert wrangles an interview but the boys find Diana and Stephen reeling from the news that Lily, Diana's washed-up actress sister, has decided to write her memoirs. Lily knows Diana's most lurid secrets and has ample TNT to blow the hinges off Stephen's closet. Philip, instantly smitten with Stephen, proposes a crafty solution to the stars' memoir problem. The job is won and glory beckons. Unhappily for Philip, the road to glory proves liberally strewn with land mines including Stephen's pit bull of a publicist and his cheerfully indiscreet uncle Monty, not to mention the project itself...With the same exuberant wit he showed in his Frasier scripts, Joe Keenan weaves a brilliantly elaborate plot that sees our trio causing mayhem in a side-splitting story of bitter feuds, plagiarism and the seamier side of Tinseltown.

My Lucky Star Bewertungen

'Joe Keenan's first novel plunges headlong into a world of deceit, avarice and violence and it's all a scream - Keenan maintains impressive control over a wonderfully ludicrous plot-packed full of lines that are well worth memorizing - and with a finale that is staggeringly, hilariously contrived.' Time Out 'Scoffers at high society, rejoice. Not one but two billionaires and a Rainbow Room full of socialites fall prey to Joe Keenan's lampooning pen in his laugh-along novel.' New York Times * 'Brilliant set pieces-Intrigue has never been so intriguing - Keenan writes like an uncloseted Coward -Not high-minded satire but - something much rarer - pure-hearted camp.'
