The author of this text argues that with the passage of time history has shown that the war gods are not on the side of the bold, nor the cautious, nor the large battalions, nor the most mobile armies, but are on the side of those who follow certain principles of strategy, which have remained constant throughout time - which is the same as saying that God helps those who help themselves. These principles are dealt with throughout the book, starting with a military war in the 3rd century BC and ending with the contemporary war in business in the 20th century - a journey lasting more than 2000 years which ends by describing in detail how to prepare a strategic plan and how to measure it.
