This book is designed to be of interest to women who voluntarily or through circumstances, will never have children. Following the author's personal story, case studies from the author's years as a licensed social worker, and hundreds of interviews she conducted with childless women, this book offers practical advice to women who wanted children. The first part of the book discusses the loss, dream, assumptions of motherhood and the social pressures on women. The second section addresses paths to childlessness, including infertility, problem pregnancies, disabilities and relationship issues. The final two sections offer a 10-step process through which readers are encouraged to accept the reality of childlessness and a guide for readers to use to start their own support groups.
