Die Once Zusammenfassung

Die Once Marianne MacDonald

Tim Curwen the ideal customer. But three days after Dido Hoare sells him Charles Dickens's The Haunted Man, her elegant young customer jumps to his death. Not only that: his cheque has bounced. Being as stubborn as the next antiquarian book dealer, Dido sets out to retrieve either the book or her money. Simple? But the book is missing from his flat, and that draws Dido onto a trail from the empty mansion flat to an abandoned house in London's East End, from threat to cover-up, from betrayal to more deaths. Her determination leads her step by step to an unexpected and perilous truth.

Die Once Bewertungen

"1 'Macdonald's lucid, irony-edged, unfussy narration makes antique-book lore interesting even to the uninitiated, and her charmingly off-beat heroine is a character most readers will want to hear from again' - Kirkus Reviews on Death's Autograph 2 'Macdonald works these formulaic elements with assurance, in a clear, quick style that reflects her heroine's crisply modern sensibility' - New York Times Book Review on Smoke Screen 3 'The denouement is wild and thrilling and holds the promise of romance with an inspector whose life Dido saves' - Booklist on Road Kill 4 'Carefully plotted, with plenty of tense moments; a warmly likable heroine; a fresh, unfancy narrative style' - Kirkus Reviews on Ghost Walk
