Freedom of Information Handbook Zusammenfassung

Freedom of Information Handbook Peter Carey

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 came into force on 1st January 2005. Public authorities are now obliged to respond promptly to requests for information, subject to exemptions. They are also obliged to make certain information available as a matter of course through publication schemes. The impact of the Act upon commercially sensitive information, and the sanctions for non-compliance, make it imperative that public bodies and professionals in the field understand the Act and its implications. The Freedom of Information Handbook offers a straightforward and authoritative overview of the law. It is accessible and practical, providing: full coverage of the Codes of Practice for public authorities, model publication schemes and important secondary legislation; explanations of the practical consequences of the law; and, a clear and user-friendly narrative. Written by a team of leading experts in the freedom of information field, the book is indispensable for public bodies' legal officers and departments, freedom of information officers and those new to the area. It is equally suitable for solicitors advising clients with commercial or contractual interests affected by the Freedom of Information Act.

Freedom of Information Handbook Bewertungen

'An excellent academic analysis of the law in this area, together with the practical application of that law to typical scenarios. The individual contributions are of very high quality. Its structure also means that answers to typical questions in this area can be found quickly. One gets the overwhelming sense that the contributors have striven to provide guidance in a full and yet concise and focused fashion. They have very successfully achieved this difficult task. This book is therefore recommended reading for anyone working in this area.' Solicitors Journal, March 2006 'An excellent analysis of the law in this area. This book, the newest FOI book currently available, is highly recommended reading for anyone working in this area.' Freedom of Information Journal, September 2006
