Adventures in Literacy guides children from their first steps in phonics through to independent reading and writing. It is now becoming clear in schools that although the Literacy Strategy has resulted in some improved reading and writing skills, children are still unable to verbally express what they are learning to write. This is increasingly becoming an area of focus by the DFEE and there are currently no books on the market that address these needs directly. The innovative new Speaking and Listening series addresses this vital area enabling children to speak coherently, give directions, make up conversations and compare and contrast objects.
