Metzker, Duane Michals, Sebastiao Salgado, Cindy Sherman, and more...Anecdotal chronicle by R.H. Cravens Photography Past/Forward: Aperture at 50: This special golden anniversary collector's book featuring over 175 images by master photographers that Aperture has published over the past fifty years, including Ansel Adams, Robert Capa, William Eggleston, Danny Lyon, Sally Mann, Robert Mapplethorpe, Ray K. Metzker, Duane Michals, Sebastiao Salgado, Cindy Sherman and others. Many of the works included in this publication have not been seen in decades and close to 25 percent of the work is as yet unpublished images by major figures in the Photography community. By examining its own history, the book explores the currents in photography that have brought the medium to its present status as one of the most important art forms. The book also demonstrates how Aperture has shaped and furthered this evolution through expanding the international audience for photography and visual arts.
