Zusammenfassung

Ruby is on a fantastic holiday with her parents on the tropical island of Sri Lanka for the first time. Her father has promised her a big surprise. She never expected this. She makes a new friend in Rani the elephant whom she gets to ride through the forests and splashing through the river. She has the ride of her life!

Ruby comes from a special family: her mother is English and her father is from Sri Lanka. She doesn't know much about her mixed-race heritage, so she's about to go on a special adventure to learn. On her first trip to her father's homeland, Ruby discovers a country bursting with colour, sound and flavour. She'll learn about tuk tuks, coconuts, saris and meet and ride on her first ever elephant . This story will transport children on a wonderful adventure; teach them so much about animals, and introduce them to other cultures.

My daughters didn't know anything about Sri Lanka, so; we spoke a bit about that as well, and I showed her where it was on our earth globe; My daughter; liked the colourful illustrations; and she liked that Ruby was mixed race, as she also is. It was nice to see and read; about the; different things they did and saw in; Sri Lanka, that is ;different to what we do England. 20th May 2018;Ann Claire;I read it to LewisT aged 4;We really liked this book, the story is written beautifully and with different colours which we both liked. Über Ruby Lovell

Ruby Lovell was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka and moved to the UK aged seven years old. As a child, Ruby was extremely sporty and excelled at athletics and tennis: winning numerous races and tennis tournaments at a young age and representing Surrey county in South London where she still lives with her children... She was also extremely creative, and would write plays, songs short stories and articles for publication. . Ruby has two children of mixed race half English half Sri Lankan). Her childhood growing up in Sri Lanka and her children's first holiday to the island paved the way to inspire the Ruby series of books, which have opened up a whole new world for Western children and educated them in a culture unknown through the adventures of a little girl called Ruby.
