Introduction by Austin Dobson. 40 black and white illustrations throughout by Hugh Thomson. Pages are moderately tanned. Mild cracking to gutters, however binding remains firm. Notable water staining to reverse of frontispiece. Mild staining to p.296-7. Leather fragments stuck to pp248-249, causing heavy stains to neighbouring pages and obscuring several words of text. Pencil inscription to front endpaper. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Moderate sunning to spine, which has mild crushing and tearing to ends. Mild water droplets to boards. Book has forward lean. Boards are mildly warped. Gilt is bright.
