It includes a selection of regional dishes, ranging from light and wholesome vegetable soups to filling one-pot meals and dumplings: try hearty traditional Bean and Sauerkraut Hotpot, or the celebrated multi-layered Prekmurje Gibanica Pie. Slovenia is a small country with dramatic contrasts - from an alpine climate in the north, through the wine-producing hills of Stajerska, to the sub-Mediterranean region in the south. Über Bogataj Janez

Janez Bogataj is a doctor of ethnological sciences and professor at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Ljubljana. His research into the Slovenian culture and lifestyle relates particularly to food and gastronomy. He lectures regularly and has written many books on Slovenian wine and cuisine.
