Past Remembering Catrin Collier
Opening in April 1941, when Britain expected invasion, Past Remembering follows the life of a community at war and love. Ronnie Ronconi returns injured from a spell with the resistance, blaming himself for his wife's death. Haydn Powell brings his family from the Blitz, while he tours with ENSA. His sister-in-law Jenny, now widowed, attracts gossip by consorting with a conscript but is soon linked with Ronnie, and he also with old flame Alma Rachenko, whose husband is missing, presumed dead. The national emphasis is on sacrifice, as women like Bethan John and Laura Lewis share childrearing so they can 'do their bit' and Jenny gives up her shop to work in a munitions factory. While Wyn's wife Diana, fears his attraction to a fellow homosexual, Tony Ronconi who left her, arrives on leave, and is furious to discover her marriage of convenience, and his twins. . . . .
