The end of HEARTS OF GOLD saw Bethan Powell finally reunited and married to Andrew John, her handsome doctor. Now they are settled in London, but with the birth of their first child tragedy befalls them. Emotional neccessity drives Bethan back to her home town of Pontypridd, and the support of family and friends. But she soon discovers her own parents marriage is decaying beyond repair and Bethan is forced to call upon all her emotional resources to struggle through. Only when it is almost too late does Andrew learn from his gravest mistake. Alma Moore's lover, Ronnie Ronconi, has gone to Italy with his bride Maud. Alma is left alone to face whisperings and innuendo in an upright Welsh community fiercely critical of 'fallen women'. Two women, is forced to confront society and their own emotions, and only one man, Charlie Rashenko, a Russian refugee haunted by his past, is prepared to help them.

Über Catrin Collier

Catrin Collier was born and brought up in Pontypridd. She worked for a while in Europe and America before returning to her native Wales. She now lives on the Gower peninsula, near Swansea, with her family. The Hearts of Gold novels are- Hearts of Gold, One Blue Moon, A Silver Lining, All That Glitters, Such Sweet Sorrow, Past Remembering, Broken Rainbows, and Spoils of War, all of which are available in Arrow.
