Bearing the Cross is a biography which portrays the struggles and conflicts within the man who became the incarnation of the Civil Rights Movement - Martin Luther King. It is based on more than 700 interviews with King's closest surviving associates and with the Southern law men who worked against him. Further information was taken from King's personal papers and thousands of relevant FBI documents. This book was winner of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Biography.
