Steven Heffer: Paintings includes painting from the artists collection spanning the past fifteen years including still life's and nudes, abstracts, architectural paintings, and coastal landscapes . The artwork featured in the book comprises of his early paintings of London industrial scenes as well as the riverfront scenes of the River Thames, Greenwich and Primrose Hill. More recently Steven Heffer has focused his paintings on the rivers and seas of East Sussex, painting the beautiful South Downs, and coastal towns such as Eastbourne, Cuckmere and Seaford.

Edward Lucie-Smith is generally regarded as the most prolific and the most widely published writers on art. A number of his art books, among them Movements in Art since 1945 , Visual Arts of the 20th Century, A Dictionary of Art Terms and Art Today are used as standard texts throughout the world. Steven Heffer is a British painter. The artist has lived and worked in London and East Sussex, and both places have provided inspiration for his paintings which include landscapes, seascapes and abstracts. The River Thames, London canals and the coast and rivers of East Sussex feature in many works. The industrial buildings along the Thames estuary and the sea and cliffs in and around Eastbourne and the Cuckmere Valley are constant and important subjects, as is the play of reflections on the water.
