National Curriculum guidelines on the teaching of environmental education sets out attitudes that should be fostered, such as care and concern for the environment, independence of thought on environmental issues, a respect for the beliefs and opinions of others, a respect for evidence and rational argument and tolerance and open-mindedness with regard to environmental issues.
