George Duffield is the senior rider in the weighing room. Born in 1946, he entered racing (earning 19/6 a week) in the early 1960s towards the end of an era dominated by the toughest of men and toughest of standards: trainers like Sam Armstrong and Jack Waugh, and jockeys like the legendary Breasley and Piggott. George has also been associated with countless top-class horses, such as his 1992 Oaks and St Leger winner User Friendly and Eclipse hero Giant's Causeway and the dual Champion Stakes heroine Alborada.
