Advances in Motivation in Sport and Exercise Glyn C. Roberts
This text is an updated and expanded version of Glyn Roberts' original Motivation in Sport and Exercise. In this work, Roberts brings together 14 of the top scholars from the United States, Canada and Europe to discuss motivation in sport and exercise. Using the social cognitive perspective, the contributors cover the key motivation theories currently being studied: self-efficacy, perceived competence, various achievement goal perspectives, self-determination and perception of control. The work not only brings together research in the field but provides directions for future research. Key features include: coverage of all concepts of motivation; major research paradigms; and explanation of motivation in physical activities, allowing the reader to understand how the motivational equation works.
