We are able to understand what really happened to Jesus by setting his story in modern times. An interesting and educational read. A good companion to the popular E-mail Jesus @ Bethlehem.

"Let's imagine that Jesus was teaching today," begins Hilary Robinson's Email Jesus @ Anytime. In this modern translation of the story of Christ, Robinson imagines that the news of Jesus spreads around the world thanks to the internet and that a world tour takes place. But then the press publishes reports from false witnesses and the website is destroyed by hackers. Christ dies but four authors write about his life and the books become bestsellers. A good book (no pun intended) that will make kids and adults think. -- www.fish.co.uk A very different book -- but one which has also been inspired by the internet - is 'e-mail: Jesus @anytime'. This is a children's book which imagines how the modern media would report Jesus' life and trial. It's cleverly written in the present tense -- so you feel the immediacy of the story -- and there are some very nice touches. I particularly like this illustration which goes with the words: 'Four authors write true stories about his life. They become bestsellers' -- and there you've got a picture of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John at their book signing! That's 'e-mail: Jesus @anytime' -- by Hilary Robinson and Anthony Lewis published by Hodder Childrens Books. It's GBP4.99 in paperback -- and GBP9.99 for the hardback. -- Judy Merry, Good Morning Sunday, Radio 2 20031207 EMAIL JESUS AT BETHLEHEM: 20031207 'Lively without being irreverent.' 20031207 'Just what the modern child should have' -- Marianne Adey, Co-Ordinator Children's Book Award 20031207 'A thoughtful and heartfelt survey.'
