Heidegger: A Political Life Hugo Ott
As well as being enormously influential in Europe and America in terms of his philosophical thinking, Heidegger is a figure whose political sympathies have attracted much heated debate. His most famous work, Being and Time, was published in 1927, the same year as Mein Kampf. Heidegger, the one-time teacher and lover of Hannah Arendt, was a private supporter of Nazism from its inception and in the 1930s made public his personal belief in and support of Hitler. This biography of the philosopher shows that it is impossible to read Heidegger's work without considering the politics of its creator.
