Widow Basquiat Zusammenfassung

Widow Basquiat: A Memoir Jennifer Clement

A tender and moving account of Jean-Michel Basquiat's life as seen through the eyes of his muse and lover, Suzanne. The book describes their often destructive and desperate relationship, which in turn could also be utterly loving, respectful and understanding. It is about their need for each other, for drugs, for comprehension, for recognition and to conquer the demons from their pasts. This is the story of Basquiat's life rarely documented, out of the spotlight, and behind that so very well known eighties art scene. His influence on and from Andy Warhol, Madonna. Keith Haring, Fab 5 Freddie and Debbie Harry, his increasing income and spiralling drug taking.

Widow Basquiat Bewertungen

a brilliant account of the relationship between Basquiat and his muse and lover...a compelling book that leaves a giant sized lump in the throat...Clement hypnotises us with a vivid portrait of Basquiat, powerfully evoking his inventiveness as an artist. * * Independent on Sunday * *
Widow Basquiat is truly unique and continues to resonate long after you've closed the final page. * * Straight no Chaser * *
'Widow Basquiat is different...builds up into an engrossing narrative which details nearly all the pivotal events of Basquiat's short life. It's a refreshing angle on a story that could easily have veered into myth-making or melodrama....Clement offers far more clues to the cryptic symbols which litter his paintings than any art critic could. * * The Times * *
breathlessly recounted * * The Big Issue * *
