Like the first edition it continues to cover both a wide range of empirical material and a diversity of approaches to political analysis, but it has also been extensively revized to explore the developments since the first edition was published. There are now three entirely new chapters on voting behaviour, Liberalism, Conservatism and the 'New Right', and government and politics beyond Westminster and Whitehall.Rather than adopting one standpoint, the authors concentrate on comparing and assessing differing theories, thereby presenting a dynamic view of British politics.
