This is a practical knitting guide which focuses on birds of all colours, shapes and varieties. There are designs for thirty jerseys for adults and children in a wide range of styles using many different types of yarn. Each design has a graph and knitting pattern and is intended to be easily comprehensible and suitable for the beginner. The author has also included verses about the birds in question, some by herself, others by well-known poets such as Lewis Carroll. Line drawings and full colour pictures illustrate the designs. Lalla Ward is best known as one of Dr Who's assistants in the BBC series, or as Rosa Lewis' daughter in The Duchess of Duke Street. She also works as an artist.
