Dartmouth and the South Devon Potteries Matt White

Dartmouth Pottery has won admiration among collectors for its distinct and colourful handmade china. This book traces its history from its beginnings in 1948 to its modern pottery in Warfleet, Dartmouth at the beginning of the 21st century. The two nearby potteries of Babbacome and Sandygate are also featured. Topics include: detailed sections on Dartmouth pieces; a collecting guide identifying the right pottery to buy; extensive lists of pottery mould numbers, dates and glaze colours; and step-by-step descriptions of the making of Dartmouth Pottery's famous gurgling fish jugs. Illustrated with a wealth of historic photographs and adveritizments, and interviews with artist and decorators - this book is useful for all those with a love for this Devon pottery.
