Handbook of Paediatrics N.P. Mann
The Handbook of Paediatrics has been written for junior doctors in both hospital and community paediatrics. It lays out the principles of assessment of the sick child, including history and examination, growth and development (including normal growth and development for reference in the child health clinic). There is then a discussion of the investigation and management of paediatric emergencies and a wide variety of common disorders. There is a chapter on the newborn, and others which give clear practical guidelines on fluid and electrolyte therapy, nutrition, child abuse and practical procedures (not covered adequately elsewhere). Careful attention is given to situations where advice and assistance from more senior doctors or specialists is needed.
