The Stupid Footballer is Dead Zusammenfassung

The Stupid Footballer is Dead: Insights into the Mind of a Professional Footballer Paul McVeigh

Professional football in the modern era is played every bit as much in the mind as on the pitch. More and more it's becoming clear that natural talent is nowhere near enough to sustain a career in the modern game. Players need to be smart; not academically but in terms of their thinking. The ones who are dedicated, with mental resilience and a winner's psychology are prospering and will continue to do so as the game evolves. The stupid footballer is dead. Ex-Premiership footballer Paul McVeigh looks back on his professional career and how he learned to play the mental game and gives a look behind-the-scenes into the approach of some of the game's highest performers. This book will appeal to sports fans and players who want to get inside the head of top professionals. And if there is one book to be read by players at all levels who want to improve their performance on the pitch then this is it - from someone who hit the heights in top-level sport and is driven to share what he learned along the way.

The Stupid Footballer is Dead Bewertungen

Brilliant book * Henry Winter *
a self-help book with a killer title that, like its author, is ahead of its time * The Independent on Sunday *
...a self-help guide for young footballers but provides fascinating insights into a world that baffles McVeigh, thanks to a culture where it's 'uncool to learn'. * The Metro *
The life of a professional footballer is often perceived as close to perfect, but this book shows the hardships that can arise and how best to cope with them - something that is also fully applicable to life outside football. * Football Twenty Four Seven *
The lessons in his book are backed by his experience and that of others and it makes The Stupid Footballer the most intelligent and entertaining of books * The Herald *
...it's a worthwhile study of gaining a winning psychology'. * Four Four Two Magazine *
a host of practical suggestions * When Saturday Comes *
...if there is one book to be read by players at all levels who want to improve their performance on the pitch then this is it. * School Sport *
The best part of the book is McVeigh's discussion of role models, players who have had great success because of their mental awareness...The book is great for football fans who want to get in the head of professional footballers. Think of it as a sneak peak into the mind of an elite player...I wouldn't hesitate buying this book; it will be an enjoyable read for any footballer or sports fan. It covers an area of the game that not many tackle because it takes the right person to author a book like this. McVeigh's successful career give him serious credentials and the ability to talk from experience. * Internationalsoccernetwork.com *
Contrary to the title of his book, the stupid footballer is not dead. But as McVeigh and his book have shown, the intelligent one can carve out a good career in football, all the while realising...that it's only a game. * Irish Examiner *
The arc of a professional career and the day by day descriptions of pre-game preparations and post-match recovery alone are well worth the price of the book. There are lessons here that we can use ourselves, regardless of our own level of play, and lessons here that we can teach our children. -- Todd Simmons * SILive.com *
spiced with personal anecdotes...this book will appeal to sports fans who want to get inside the heads of top professionals and to players who want to improve their performance. * Let's Talk *
