Back from a stint in Monterey, where her love life took a tumble, Nina Reilly has returned to her South Lake Tahoe law office. Two years earlier, the wife of a new client had been killed during a robbery at the Aces High motel. The robbery victims, three students staying at the hotel, disappeared without a trace and the police still have no suspects and no leads. Nina's first port of call is to track down those witnesses.
