Detective Inspector, Michael Angel is investigating a puzzling case in the South Yorkshire town of Bromersley. A murderer engaging in a bizarre routine results in a young woman's death at a highly respected country club. Matters are complicated by the fact that perfectly reputable witnesses cannot agree on the straightforward matter of identifying the killer. With the appointment of a new career-mad superintendent, Angel unexpectedly becomes the prey of a family of dangerous and desperate crooks led by the shapely Mrs. Gina Rossi, while a friend of his becomes caught up in an alarming scam. With all this to contend with, DI Angel and his team must unravel an unusual and chilling mystery.
