One of a set of four History resources for CCEA Key Stage 3, 'The Medieval World' covers the period from cAD700 to around 1500, including: Bede; The Vikings; Brian Boru; The Normans in England and Ireland; Medieval life, religion and warfare. It is divided into 40 units to ease lesson planning, and has activities to suit a variety of ability levels.

The four titles in the History in Close-Up Series give students a comprehensive understanding of the key themes that form the history of their part of the world. 'The Age of Discovery' covers the period 1500 to 1800, 'Union and Partition' includes 1800 to the present day. The fourth book, 'The Twentieth Century' is offered as an alternative for the final year study, taking a theme-based approach to the changes that have come in the past one hundred years.

Über Russell Rees

Sheila Turner Johnston was born in west Cork, Ireland and spent her childhood in different counties the length and breadth of the country, as the family moved wherever her father's job took him. She attended Queen's University, Belfast, and apart from managing to graduate against all her expectations, one of her best experiences was reading her poetry to an audience that included Seamus Heaney. Sheila has won prizes for both fiction and non-fiction, and has written many articles for both local and national publications. She and her husband Norman founded the publishing stable Colourpoint Creative Ltd, which is now owned and managed by their two sons.
