Headstart is a home learning series, consisting of six books, designed to provide practice in the key areas of the National Curriculum (NC) at Key Stage 1. Notes for parents, to aid in the learning process, are included. This book looks specifically at how to improve children's spelling. Spelling is both an important component of the NC in English, and a skill which is necessary for the whole school curriculum. Shirley Clarke is part of the SATS Key Stage 1 writing team and Barry Silsby is a primary headteacher.
