Glubb Pasha: Life and Times of Sir Bagot Glubb Trevor Royle
This is the biography of Sir John Bagot Glubb, Glubb Pasha, who was best known as the Commander of the Arab Legion, a Lawrence of Arabia figure, appointed in 1930 to pacify warring Bedouin tribespeople in Jordan, who then led them in distinguished service in Iraq and Syria. Then he was expelled by the young King Hussein in 1956 during the Suez crisis. A fascinating man - reserved, self-sufficient, proud and loyal - Glubb lived a nomad's life. Trevor Royle is the author of The Kitchen Enigma.
