The Colour of Love: Mixed Race Relationships Yasmin Alibhai-Brown
Interviewed in this book are people whose lives have been affected by the fact that two people fell in love, but happened to belong to different races. Relationships across racial and religious barriers in Britain have a long history, and fear and racial contempt about sexual liaisons across colour lines still prevail. Those who dare cross them are victimized and isolated, often by both communities. Here individuals, couples, parents and children talk about their experiences. For some the experience has been an empowering one - a challenge to bigotry and a liberation from rigid values. But for the majority the pressures are harsh.
