Andy Fordham the Viking Summary

Andy Fordham the Viking by Andy Fordham

Andy Fordham's life has seen an extraordinary mixture of highs and lows. When he emulated his hero Eric Bristow by winning the British Darts Organisation World Championship in 2004, his triumph was almost eclipsed by the excessive drinking that came close to destroying him. By the summer of 2008, doctors told him that he would not survive without a liver transplant. With his life hanging in the balance, Andy was rushed to the hospital only to be told that the donor's organ was not viable. But, contray to medical wisdom, his liver would make an astonishing recovery. It was the first major event in a dramatic personal resurgence. Andy's health began to improve as he rose back to the top of the darts game. Having regained his life, he was now able to look forward with anticipation to the future. For the first time in print, Andy tells his entire life story. With genial wit and gentle good humour, he combines beery anecdotes from his life on the road as a professional darts player with an honest, moving account of his severe health problems. From fun-filled meetings with Johnny Vegas, Ant and Dec and his personal hero, Eric Bristow, to the impact of his decline upon his family and his near-miraculous return to health, Andy shares with the reader all of his triumphs and tears.
