Food in Focus: A Nutrition Education Programme for Health Educators by Ann Carter
Never before has there been such intense public interest and awareness of the relationships between diet and health. Professionals from a variety of disciplines have recognised the need to be involved with the rapid changes which are taking place. Food in Focus is a healthy eating programme for use by all professionals involved in nutrition education. The material is designed for use in schools and colleges and a wide range of adult groups. The programme consists of seven sessions each of about one and a half hours duration, with an emphasis on participatory learning methods. The material is designed to be flexible and users will soon identify different ways of using the activities and incorporating Food in Focus into their existing work. The content of the programme is based on the nutritional recommendations of the National Advisory Committee for Nutrition Education (NACNE) 1983 and the Committee on the Medical Aspects of Food Policy (COMA) 1984. Food in Focus is a practical book enabling healthy eating to become part of our everyday lives.
