The Journal of Military History- This is an excellent book. The research is prodigious, the prose clear and the conclusions reasonably convincing. Air power played a decisive role in not only the destruction of the German submarine fleet but in the destruction of the merchant fleet as well. Dr Goulter has performed a tremendous service in bringing this forgotten offensive to light.
Intelligence and National Security- It is handsomely produced and nicely augmented by maps, photographs, and statistical tables
The Northern Mariner- There is little to fault with Goulters work...she has made an excellent contribution to the maritime history of World War II
Military Review - A Forgotten Offensive is the first detailed examination of this antishipping campaign...The studys value lies in its superior coverage of an institution competing for limited sources and its emphasis on the importance of economic warfare in World War II
Aerospace Power Journal, Vol 14, No 1, April 2000
This is certainly one of the excellent texts of maritime air operations in Northwest Europe. Coastal Command never had an official history written about its convoy operations; this book fills that void.
the product of detailed and exhaustive research.
